Welcome from the Headteacher
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Wrington Church of England Primary School.
My name is Sarah Joskey and I have been privileged to be the Headteacher of Wrington Church of England Primary School since 2010. Wrington is a one-form entry rural Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School within North Somerset and the Diocese of Bath and Wells. I feel very fortunate to work with a fantastic team of enthusiastic, caring and inspiring staff, each with their own areas of interest and expertise - we learn from one another.
Before joining the Wrington team, I was Deputy at Churchill Church of England Primary School, and prior to that I taught in South-West London. Wrington is part of the Federation of Burrington and Wrington Church Schools which was formed in 2018 and so since this time, I have shared my time between the two schools.
The school is situated in a beautiful rural setting in the heart of the village of Wrington, in North Somerset. We are very proud of our school which has served the local community for over 155 years. Our fond traditions are combined with an outward looking approach as we draw on national and international research and pedagogy to inform our practice.
Our motto is ‘cherish and nurture, flourish and aspire’ and we work in partnership with the whole community of the school to achieve this. At Wrington, children are cherished and nurtured to be confident, happy and inquisitive learners, encouraged to be ambitious and seize the many opportunities that this school provides. This enables an education which lays a firm foundation of aspiration, curiosity and the belief that we can all make a positive difference in our world.
There is a very strong sense of partnership between the school and parents, governors and the wider community which enhances a ‘family’ ethos. Since 2018, we have become part of the Federation of Burrington and Wrington Church Schools which has enabled both schools to benefit from additional opportunities for professional development, curriculum enrichment and shared expertise. We have strong links with local schools in our cluster and beyond, and we work closely with the Diocese of Bath and Wells as well as North Somerset Local Authority, We have recently developed a link with a school in Zambia.
‘Let all that you do be done in love’ 1 Corinthians is our Federation guiding principle. Our vision is to nurture compassion, curiosity, integrity, wisdom and a lifelong love of learning, founded on Christian values, as we grow and flourish together. This is the foundation of all we do. We strive to provide an outstanding education which develops the whole child: socially, academically, morally and spiritually.
We are a Church of England VC School and we have strong links with our foundation church, All Saints’ and the United Reformed Chapel. Christian values underpin all we do and our strong Christian ethos helps to make our school special.
Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff ensure that the children have a wealth of opportunities for learning through an innovative and inspiring curriculum. We aim to instil in all children a social, spiritual and moral grounding so that they value themselves and others as distinctive individuals with optimism, inquisitiveness and excitement.
We seek to inspire children to be the best that they can be, valuing all as unique individuals and developing their special qualities and strengths to enable them to make greatest possible progress and to flourish in all aspects of school life. We are committed to preparing the children for success, as responsible caring citizens, confident and well equipped for the challenges of the 21st century with a zest for life and learning, now and in the future.
