Class 3
Welcome to our Class Page
“An expert at anything was a beginner.”
We are a class of thirty wonderful, hardworking and kind children. Miss Madge and Mrs Gray enjoy teaching the class and Miss Keelan (dyslexia trained) and Miss Parker support the children. We’re lucky to also have Mrs Clough deliver a brilliant specialist music lesson every week.
We welcome parents into our classroom through being a mystery reader, hearing children reading, sharing specialisms and book looks.
In our class we follow a clearly sequenced curriculum that builds on children's learning. We explore learning across all areas of the curriculum and have exciting opportunities for wider learning. We enjoy trips and have visitors in, which gives us the opportunity to deepen and broaden our understanding through first-hand experience. This includes visits to Bristol Museum and cooking at our local farm through Farmlink. When possible, we like to work with other schools; for example, we attend Raise the Roof which is a fun local singing festival. During the year we are also invited to represent our school and attend specialist sporting events such as cross country.
We’re encouraged to challenge ourselves through aiming high. We aim for a growth mindset. We discuss and recognise learning dispositions needed to be successful. ‘Marvellous mistakes’ help us to learn, and we’re taught that through effort we can achieve even if we’re ‘not there yet’. All children are supported to achieve their personal best.
We start the day (weather allowing) with the Daily Mile which is ten minutes of exercise. Not only is it a chance to get physically fitter, but it’s an enjoyable time when we can run with friends. Once a year, we have the opportunity to complete a marathon by completing a mile a day over a term!
Working as team, we support and help each other. Group work gives our class the opportunity to develop co-operation and social skills. Working together, we take on classroom responsibilities like being the cloakroom and messenger monitor. Our classroom runs smoothly because we all help out.
In Class 3, the children have a huge range of talents, skills and interests, which we love sharing and celebrating in class. We have confident speakers, astonishing sport stars, astounding musicians, amazing mathematicians, talented artists, curious scientists and incredible authors! Each member of our class is unique and special, with their own wonderful range of qualities, skills and talents.
We constantly striving to be our best and demonstrate the Wrington High Five for behaviour being kind, resilient, respectful, ready to learn and safe. Our use of these is highlighted in our weekly Celebration service through certificates and being invited to the headteacher’s, Ms. Joskey’s, tea party!
