Coronation festivities

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the wonderful events at Wrington this week to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. From our Global Goals event to learning a favourite hymn of the King, we’ve had a right royal time!  I hope the children will be able to look back happily on the activities which have marked this occasion.

We enjoyed a lovely whole school family picnic today followed by some energetic country dancing. It was great to see so many of our visitors joining in with the dancing too!

We’d like to thank Leanne in the kitchen for creating a number of enormous Union Flag cakes – they looked amazing (and they were delicious)!

This afternoon we heard from different classes all about the regalia which will be seen in tomorrow’s coronation service. Reception class looked wonderful in their hedgerow crowns. The service also included some fun flag waving (thank you to Mrs Ledbury for donating flags and for putting up bunting on the field). We sang the National Anthem and listened to Zadok the Priest to get us in a royal mood! Some children across the school shared their lovely writing—well done to Sarl, Annabelle E, Ruby and Barnaby.

Finally, each child was presented with a leather bookmark which we hope will be a lovely memento of this royal event.

Long live the King!
